Variety Cruises Enters a New Era with Steve Reynolds as CEO

The 77-year family-owned small-ship cruise company welcomes new leadership as Filippos Venetopoulos transitions to Executive Chairman.

At Variety Cruises, a new chapter begins. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Reynolds as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), while Filippos Venetopoulos transitions to Executive Chairman.

This leadership transition marks an important milestone in our 77-year journey, bringing together our family heritage, pioneering spirit and experienced international leadership to shape the future of small-ship cruising.

Following the successful completion of a major financial restructuring, Variety Cruises enters this new phase with a stronger foundation and a renewed focus on sustainable growth.

Honoring Our Heritage, Embracing the Future

Our story began in 1949 with historian and entrepreneur Diogenis Venetopoulos, who believed in the power of travel to connect people, cultures and destinations. His son, Lakis Venetopoulos, carried this vision forward, expanding the family's passion for exploration to new destinations.

Today, as a third-generation family-owned company, Variety Cruises continues to evolve while remaining true to the values that have shaped our identity for more than seven decades.

Filippos Venetopoulos, Executive Chairman, shares:

In his new role, Filippos will focus on long-term strategy, governance and key industry relationships, continuing to guide our vision to "Create a Better World at Sea."

Welcoming Steve Reynolds as CEO

Steve Reynolds brings extensive international leadership experience across travel, tourism, distribution and destination management. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Discover Qatar, the destination management company of Qatar Airways Group.

His expertise in developing travel businesses and building international partnerships will play an important role in strengthening Variety Cruises' global presence and supporting our next phase of growth.

As CEO, Steve will oversee day-to-day business leadership, operational performance, commercial development, financial discipline and team development.
